D-G calls on USAID Ghana Mission Director
The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Ambassador Edward Boateng has paid a courtesy call on USAID Ghana Mission Director, Kimberly Rosen.
In his opening address, Ambassador Boateng expressed his appreciation to Madam Kimberly Rosen for the warm welcome accorded the SIGA delegation. He made a brief introduction of SIGA whiles acknowledging USAID’s significant 50-year contribution towards improving Ghana’s local governance, food security, access to quality basic education and primary healthcare.
Ambassador Boateng commended USAID Ghana for its recent initiative with one of SIGA’s Specified Entities (SEs), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in a five-year partnership that includes a $5 million financing commitment to improve the functioning of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and increase access to quality healthcare in Ghana.
He asked for support for SIGA in the areas of technology, human resource and Trade & Investment. He said “We want SIGA to become a centre of excellence where young people who aspire to work in the public sector look up to and we believe that a strong partnership with USAID will be in the right direction.”.
In welcoming the SIGA delegation, Madam Kimberly Rosen was grateful to Ambassador Boateng for the visit and commended SIGA for the key role played so far since it. She was particularly interested in the SEs in Agricultural sector, as USAID is more inclined to Agric based entities. She went on to mention that USAID shall have continuous engagements with SIGA to ensure a fruitful relationship.
Present at the meeting were Grace K. Lang (Deputy Mission Director, USAID Ghana), Adama Jehanfo (Development Assistance Specialist, USAID Ghana) Mr. Joshua Adofo Boanya (Head of Investment and Divestment, SIGA), Mr. Godfred Sowah Khartey (Manager Director- General’s Secretariat, SIGA) and Ms. Louisa Aubin (Manager PR & External Affairs).
