Ghana Reinsurance Success Story Must be Studied in School – Amb. Edward Boateng

Ghana Reinsurance PLC (Ghana Re) has officially commemorated it’s 50th Anniversary with a launch.

The event brought together management and staff, government officials, past and present board members of the company, and leaders in the insurance industry.

In his address the Managing Director of Ghana Re, Mr. George Y. Mensah eulogized present and past workers, partners, and leaders of Ghana Re for their contributions towards bringing the organisation thus far.

“Our 50th anniversary is not so much of festivity but a time for reflection on the 50 years journey and the tenacity of many men and women who stayed the course and charted a vision and a mission which has brought us this far”  He said.

“More importantly, it is a time to look forward, focusing on the mountains we need to climb towards the attainment of the great heights dreamed of by our forebears” he added.

Guest of Honour

Director-General of State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Amb. Edward Boateng,  who was the guest of honour in his congratulatory message said “Ghana Re’s success story and business model is one that must be documented and studied in business schools across the country”.

He also applauded Ghana Re for being one of the few Specified Entities that consistently pays dividends to the government, an act he described as not easy.

The event climaxed with an unveil of Company’s 50th Anniversary logo, and a flag hoisting ceremony.

Ghana Reinsurance PLC (Ghana Re) commenced operations in 1972 as the Ghana Reinsurance Organization, and was incorporated as a Limited Liability Company on June 16, 1995. In compliance with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), the name was changed from Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited to Ghana Reinsurance PLC.

With fifty years of operation as reinsurance service provider, the company has lived up to its promise of being the “Reinsurance of Choice” on the African continent. In addition to its head office in Accra, the company has regional offices located in Kenya, Cameroon and recently in Morocco.
