Hon. Asenso-Boakye Inaugurates Seasons Court
The Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye has commissioned a 16-unit apartments block constructed by the State Housing Company (SHC) at Adentan Housing Down.
The two-bedroom and three-bedroom self-contained apartment dubbed ‘Seasons Court’ is one of many apartments constructed by STC and expected to provide accommodation for 16 families at an affordable price.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Minister disclosed that a new revised affordable housing scheme borne out of government’s commitment to provide affordable houses to about 60 percent of public sector workers who needed decent accommodation for their families is in the offing.
He said, the revised scheme would be undertaken at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region and Dedesoa in the Ashanti Region for which the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo is expected to cut sod after a successful statutory legal process.
“With that, we are very hopeful that many Ghanaians, especially those in the public service; teachers, nurses, police officers, civil servants, bankers and all those important workers in the country without which the country cannot develop will find decent affordable accommodation for themselves and their families,” he said.
The Head of Corporate Affairs at State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Mr. Stephen Asiedu who delivered an address on behalf of the Director-General of SIGA, Amb. Edward Boateng extends the authority’s commendation to the leadership of SHC for their unwavering determination and innovative strategies which has ensured the company’s resilience in spite of current economic challenges in Ghana.
He further called on private investors to collaborate with the State Housing Company to execute housing projects, taking cognizance of the company’s consistent track records in providing affordable houses to many families in the country.
“By underscoring the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders including civil society organisations, private sector, academia and other regulatory bodies. SIGA remains devoted to continue partnering with the State Housing Company as one of the Specified Entities,” he opined.
On his part, the Board Chairman of SHC, Mr. Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV assured that management of SHC would ensure that it delivers a sizeable number of housing units to Ghanaians on quarterly basis.
