PELT Award will bring Competition – Amb. Edward Boateng
Ambassador Edward Boateng expresses confidence in the Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) as a tool for healthy competition amongst Specified Entities.
The Director-General of SIGA said this in an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi FM’s morning on the maiden PELT Awards.
According to Amb. Edward Boateng the PELT Awards is one of the many innovative management tools the Public Enterprises Ministry in collaboration with SIGA is introducing to engender healthy competition amongst Specified Entities.
“The PELT Awards is an innovation of the Minister of Public Enterprises, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, which seeks to introduce a carrot and stick approach in the management of Specified Entities, where outstanding entities are rewarded, while their underperforming contemporaries are rightfully sanctioned.”
“A technical awards scheme, the novelty will be based on the Public Enterprises League Table (PELT), a ranking system which grades all Specified Entities in chronological order, from the best performing to the worst performing, in line with the KPIs set in the performance contracts negotiated and signed with SIGA,” he added.
The maiden edition of the PELT Awards came off on Thursday, 30th June 2022 at the Kempinski Hotel. The theme is: “Improving Public Sector Business Outcomes”.
The ceremony is expected to draw patrons from amongst board members, CEOs, and management of Specified Entities. The rest are sector ministers; members of the diplomatic community; development partners and donors.
The vice-president of the republic, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was the special guest of honour.
