SIGA Hosts Mid- Year Durbar
SIGA has hosted its first half-year staff durbar for 2023. The durbar was opened by Madam Alexandra Totoe, the Ag. General Manager for Finance and Administration and was attended by resource persons from two Entities, SIC Life and the Right to Information Commission.
In his address, the Acting Director-General, Mr. John Boadu, commended staff for their commitment and hard work, highlighting significant activities undertaken and milestones achieved in the first half of the year. He emphasized the importance of continuous education and transparency, which set the stage for the day’s discussion.
Staff were given the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and give suggestions, all of which were noted and responded to by management.
The Director-General assured staff that their concerns would be followed with great concern. “I appreciate your hard work, which has yielded commendable results. We are on track with our strategic plan for the year, and with concerted effort, I am confident we will meet our objectives. Management is committed to addressing all your concerns to ensure your satisfaction,” he stated.
The durbar featured a Right to Information (RTI) sensitization session led by Mr. Senanu Nyadroh and Mr. Basoah from the Ministry of Information’s Access to Information Division (ATID). The interactive session saw active participation from staff, who engaged in discussions and gained practical insights into the application of the RTI Act.
Following the RTI session, Madam Cynthia Twumasi from SIC PLC delivered an informative presentation on insurance. With clear explanations and practical examples, Madam Twumasi revealed the importance and benefits of various insurance products. Her engaging presentation prompted active participation from staff, who posed numerous questions that she addressed.
Mrs. Afua Frempong, Manager in-charge of Corporate Affairs Division, took staff through SIGA’s Communication Plan, detailing its objectives. She emphasized the plan’s aims to enhance accessibility and understanding of SIGA’s operations through streamlined information dissemination. She encouraged staff to familiarise themselves with the Communication plan, which will be shared to all staff to ensure uniform communication processes.
Additionally, the durbar included a health screening exercise, reflecting SIGA’s commitment to staff welfare. This initiative was well received, providing staff with the opportunity to assess their health and receive professional medical advice.
The Director-General concluded the durbar with a renewed call to action, inspiring staff to build on SIGA’s achievements and uphold its mission in the months ahead.
