SIGA Hosts Third Annual “Jogging to Bond”

 

SIGA has held the third edition of its annual staff fun games, “Jogging to Bond,” at the Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex in Burma Camp.

 

The eagerly anticipated event brought together staff in a day dedicated to enhancing teamwork, building relationships, and inspiring togetherness. It also promoted a culture of healthy living and an environment for staff to improve their physical well-being, reduce stress, and increase stamina.

The event kicked off with a walk within the Burma Camp, setting the tone for an energetic and vibrant day. After the walk, participants engaged in an aerobic workout, accompanied by brass band music.

Divided into teams Royals, Hunters, Wakanda and Zulus, the teams participated in a series of events designed to test athletic abilities, coordination, teamwork, and tenacity. Games competed in included tug of war, penalty shootouts for ladies, sack races, ball races, football for men, and a 50-meter dash, three-legged dance among others.

The games were officiated by military personnel from the Sport Complex, who ensured that the games were conducted in a disciplined and orderly manner. Elements of teamwork, diligence, and fair play were emphasized throughout the day, further strengthening the bonds among staff members. The choice of Burma Camp for the games was strategic, underscoring the importance of effective planning, collective effort, and trust.

SIGA was also honoured to have the Minister of Public Enterprises, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe and staff from the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises Secretariat join and to participate in the games with Hon. Joseph Cudjoe scoring a penalty in a match between Royals and the Zulus.

 

At the end of a day filled with physical challenges and camaraderie, Team “Hunters” emerged as the champions, demonstrating remarkable determination. They dethroned last year’s champions, “Wakanda’,” who finished third. “Royals” maintained their second-place position with Team “Zulus” finishing fourth.

Despite the competition, the true victory laid in the unity and strong bonds formed among SIGA’s staff and teams.

In an address to the staff, Director-General of SIGA, Mr. John Boadu expressed his sincere appreciation for the dedication and commitment of Staff. He acknowledged the crucial role that staff play in achieving SIGA’s mandate and encouraged everyone to continue striving for excellence in their roles. “Everybody in SIGA matters. Management appreciates your efforts and commend you for your dedication and commitment. We urge you to keep up the excellent work whilst counting on us to foster a supportive work environment and uphold your interests and welfare. Have fun and bond today and return to the office invigorated for the rest of the year,” he remarked.

The Hon. Joseph Cudjoe advised staff to take exercise serious in other to stay fit and stronger. He also shared his exercise routine to encourage staff.

Some of the highlights of the day was the relaunch and swearing-in of executives for SIGA Diva’s, a female staff association and the participation of Prof. Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia, a member of the SIGA board of Directors.
