SIGA Organises Orientation for Board Members
The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) has organised a one-day induction and orientation programme for Board of Directors of four Specified Entities.
The programme which is part of SIGA’s mandate was to orient the Board of Directors to better understand and appreciate the role they play.
The programme was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel under the theme “Effective and Ethical Boards leading efficient and productive Specified Entities”.
Opening the ceremony, the Director-General of SIGA, Hon. Stephen Asamoah-Boateng enumerated the work of the board and told them the President has put a lot of trust in them to help transform their various Entities.
He also mentioned that whilst they are the board, their duty is not to meddle in the day to day running of the Entities. “Your duty is to give policy and strategic advice.” he said.
The Acting Head of Governance Risk and Compliance Mr. Eric Opoku took participants through the role SIGA plays in Specified Entities and where the law empowers it to sanction Entities.
The first of induction and orientation programme for Specified Entities was attended by: Ghana Gas Company Ltd (Ghana Gas), Bulk Oil and Transportation Company Ltd (BOST), Ghana Grid Company Limited (Gridco) and Bui Power Authority and was coordinated by Circadian Consulting.
The next induction and orientation session comes off on the 30th of November, 2021.
