SIGA Underscores Significance of Private-Public Partnership



The Director-General of SIGA, Amb. Edward Boateng has highlighted the significance of private-public partnership.

Amb. Boateng made the statement at the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana organized Top 50 Ghana Entrepreneurs & Corporate Executives Awards & Summit 2023. The 13th edition of the event held at the Labadi beach Hotel on Friday June 23,2023 was to recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements of entrepreneurs, public sector CEOs, and corporate CEOs.

The Director-General of SIGA, graced the occasion as a Guest Speaker and addressed the gathering on the theme “Promoting business co-operation between Private and Public Sector Development in Ghana.”

In his address he extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana for their kind invitation and acknowledged the significance of the event taking place on World Public Sector Day; a day that recognizes the valuable contributions of public service to development.

Ambassador Boateng highlighted the coordinated efforts of SIGA and other regulatory bodies in driving compliance, improving financial reporting, and enhancing good corporate governance standards within Specified Entities. He emphasized the pivotal role played by the public sector in establishing robust structures, which he referred to as “creating the economic superhighway,” essential for private businesses to thrive.

“Over the last four years, SIGA has worked to create an enabling environment for Specified Entities to be self-sufficient.” “We are committed to forging strategic collaborations between our Specified Entities and the private sector in order to achieve economic growth in Ghana,” he stated.

Ambassador Boateng also had the honor of presenting awards to some public sector CEOs in recognition of their exemplary leadership. Dr. Mimi Darko, CEO of Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mr. Sammy Awuku, Director-General of National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Busia, CEO of Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Samuel Mahama, MD of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dr Afua Asabea Asare, CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh,  CEO of Ghana Entrepreneurship Agency (GEA); Ms. Benonita Bismarck, CEO of Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Mr. John Ofori Tenkorang, Director-General of SSNIT and Dr. Ben K.D. Asante, CEO of Ghana Gas were among the award recipients.
