Director-General of SIGA Commences Familiarisation Tour With Visit to PMMC

On Thursday, 13th February 2025, the Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte, commenced his familiarisation tour of Specified Entities with a courtesy visit to the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) at its headquarters in Accra. The visit formed part of a broader initiative by the Director-General to strengthen institutional relationships and gain firsthand insight into the operations, challenges, and strategic priorities of entities under SIGA’s oversight.

Professor Kpessa-Whyte and his delegation were warmly received by the Chief Executive Officer of PMMC, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, along with members of the company’s management team. In his remarks, the Director-General commended PMMC for its critical role in Ghana’s mineral value chain, particularly in promoting transparency and value addition within the precious minerals sector. He reiterated SIGA’s commitment to supporting PMMC and other Specified Entities in achieving greater efficiency, profitability, and accountability.

The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement on the company’s performance trajectory, strategic outlook, and areas in which SIGA’s oversight and technical support could enhance operational outcomes. Discussions also touched on the broader policy environment and the need for continued alignment between SE mandates and national development goals.

As part of his vision for strengthened stakeholder engagement, Professor Kpessa-Whyte will continue these familiarisation visits throughout the year. The initiative aims to foster stronger collaboration between SIGA and the leadership of Specified Entities, promote good governance, and reinforce SIGA’s role as a strategic partner in the effective management of state assets.
