On Thursday, 27th February 2025, the Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte, led a delegation to the World Bank office in Accra to engage in discussions focused on improving the operational efficiency and financial performance of Specified Entities (SEs).
The delegation was received by Mr. Taliercio O’Brien, World Bank Division Director for Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, who welcomed the visit as an opportunity to strengthen the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting formed part of SIGA’s continued efforts to advance its oversight responsibilities and improve the performance of SEs. Discussions centred on key areas including corporate governance, financial sustainability, and institutional capacity development. Both parties reviewed progress under the Public Financial Management for Service Delivery (PFM4SD) Programme and explored avenues for further cooperation.
Professor Kpessa-Whyte reiterated SIGA’s commitment to enhancing transparency, accountability, and strategic oversight across all entities within its mandate. He also highlighted the importance of partnerships with development institutions such as the World Bank in supporting the reform agenda and contributing to national development objectives.
The engagement concluded with a mutual understanding of the need for sustained collaboration to ensure that SEs operate efficiently, deliver value, and support the country’s broader socio-economic goals.
