The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa Whyte, participated as a Special Guest on the first day of 2025 Annual National Internal Audit and Governance Conference hosted by the Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana (IIA Ghana) from April 14th. The high-level event brought together governance experts, auditors, and key public sector leaders under the theme “Elevating Professionalism for National Development.”
In his address, Prof. Kpessa Whyte expressed appreciation to the Governing Council of IIA Ghana for the invitation and commended the Institute’s consistent role in fostering integrity and accountability in the public sector. He emphasized the relevance of the conference theme to SIGA’s core mandate, stating that professionalism must remain a “pillar of institutional excellence and a catalyst for national progress.”
The Director-General also highlighted the strong partnership between SIGA and IIA Ghana, noting that both institutions share common values rooted in integrity and performance. He called for even closer collaboration, especially as SIGA continues its mission to reset and strengthen Specified Entities and improve corporate governance standards across the country.
Prof. Kpessa Whyte concluded his remarks with optimism, expressing confidence that the conference would produce actionable strategies for enhancing public sector performance. He reaffirmed SIGA’s commitment to working hand in hand with oversight bodies and professionals to advance sustainable development in Ghana. The event was marked by engaging panel discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at equipping internal audit professionals with tools to meet emerging governance challenges.
