On June 14, 2025, the Acting Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, led a delegation to a capacity-building workshop organized by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Public Administration and State Interests at the Alisa Hotel, Accra.
The objective of the engagement was to enhance the Committee members’ understanding of SIGA’s mandate, governance framework, and operations, particularly as it relates to the oversight and performance monitoring of Specified Entities (SEs).
Prof. Kpessa-Whyte delivered the opening address, highlighting SIGA’s mandate and summarising the significant institutional milestones achieved to date. This was followed by technical presentations from experts from the SIGA delegation, who provided in-depth insights into the Authority’s legal framework, oversight responsibilities, and its role in promoting good corporate governance.
The SIGA delegation also included the Acting General Manager for Operations and the Acting General Manager for Finance & Administration, who contributed to discussions on SIGA’s performance monitoring mechanisms, stakeholder engagements, and ongoing institutional reforms.
The interactive session served as a platform for knowledge-sharing and reinforced SIGA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration with key state institutions in advancing the effective management of state interests in Specified Entities.
SIGA looks forward to continued engagements with Parliament and other stakeholders to ensure the realization of its mandate as enshrined in the SIGA Act, 2019 (Act 990).
