SIGA Congratulates New IoD-Gh Council and Reaffirms Governance Commitment

The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) has extended its warm congratulations to the newly inaugurated 11th Governing Council of the Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh), reaffirming its commitment to promoting sound corporate governance within Ghana’s public sector.

The investiture ceremony, held on Friday, 4th July 2025, at the Engineering Centre in Roman Ridge, Accra, marked a significant milestone in IoD-Gh’s leadership journey. Madam Millicent Aguwine Atuguba, Acting General Manager of Operations at SIGA, delivered a goodwill message on behalf of the Director-General of SIGA Professor Micheal Kpessa-Whyte. She applauded the outgoing 10th Council for its impactful service and commended the newly inducted members for taking up the mantle of leadership.

A highlight of the ceremony was the official swearing-in of Mrs. Mary Asare-Yeboah as President and Chair of the Governing Council, alongside the following members of the 11th Council:

· Mr. Michael Justice Ashong – Vice President

· Mr. Ekow Peterson Afedzie

· Mr. Herbert Lawson

· Mr. Kofi Asumadu Apenteng

· Apostle Dr. Christopher Kwame Sokpor

· Mr. Robert O. Mensah

· Dr. Rejoice Wodomdedzi Foli

SIGA cherishes its longstanding partnership with IoD-Gh, particularly in the development of the Code of Corporate Governance for Specified Entities and Public Organisations, a landmark framework aimed at institutionalising governance best practices across State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and public institutions. This collaboration remains integral to the implementation of SIGA’s mandate and the broader government Reset Agenda, which prioritises transparency, accountability, and value creation in the public sector.

As both institutions look ahead, SIGA expresses confidence in the leadership of the new Governing Council and anticipates deeper collaboration in driving governance excellence, ethical leadership, and institutional reforms across the country’s Specified Entities.

Together, SIGA and IoD-Gh will continue to champion good governance as the cornerstone of sustainable national development.
