Czech Delegation Meets SIGA to Discuss Transport Sector Investments

The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) on August 26, 2025, held a strategic meeting with officials from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ghana and the Czech firm, Knights A.S., to explore partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening Ghana’s transport sector.

The discussions focused on potential investments to modernize and expand the fleets of three Specified Entities (SEs), Metro Mass Transit Ltd., Intercity STC Coaches Ltd., and Ghana Heavy Equipment Ltd., through the introduction of commercial buses, electric buses, and heavy-duty equipment. The initiative seeks to enhance operational efficiency, promote sustainability, and improve service delivery in Ghana’s public transport system.

Speaking at the meeting, the Ag. General Manager of Operations Madam Millicent Atuguba underscored the Authority’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that align with Ghana’s development priorities. “This engagement reflects SIGA’s determination to build strong collaborations that support our Specified Entities and contribute to national growth. We welcome the interest of Knights A.S. and the Czech mission, and we are optimistic that this cooperation will yield tangible benefits for Ghana’s transport sector,” she said.

The meeting concluded with an agreement for Knights A.S. to submit detailed technical proposals to SIGA and the SEs for review. Once finalized, the parties will move toward drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the partnership.

The engagement was attended by the General Manager of Operations at SIGA, Madam Millicent Atuguba, SIGA Management, Managing Directors of Metro Mass Transit Ltd, Intercity STC Coaches Ltd, and Ghana Heavy Equipment Ltd, as well as representatives from the Czech Embassy and officials from Knights A.S.
