On Wednesday, 15th October 2025, the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) held an interactive forum with editors from selected media houses at its premises in Accra. The engagement sought to sensitize the media on the recently published 2024 State Ownership Report (SOR) and to strengthen collaboration between the media and the Authority.
In his opening remarks, the Director-General of SIGA, Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, welcomed the editors and expressed appreciation for their continuous support. He highlighted the indispensable role of the media in nation-building and in shaping public understanding of SIGA’s mandate and the performance of Specified Entities under its oversight.
Setting the tone for the forum, he remarked, “SIGA’s State Ownership Report is our collective mirror. It reflects the strides we are making, the instances of improved governance, operational efficiency, financial discipline, and tangible contributions to the national purse. We celebrate these successes, born from the dedication of boards, management, and staff across the Specified Entities landscape, guided by SIGA’s mandate.”
He further clarified that the 2024 State Ownership Report (SOR) was compiled using data from the 2024 financial statements submitted by Specified Entities under SIGA’s mandate. He explained that the report represents the final assessment of the financial operations of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Joint Venture Companies (JVCs), and Other State Entities (OSEs) under the previous administration. The subsequent SOR, he noted, will focus on the performance of Specified Entities in 2025, following the political transition.
The Director-General’s remarks were followed by presentations on the report by members of the State Ownership Reporting (SOR) technical team, led by the Acting Head of the Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Mr. Eric Bonsu Agyabeng. The team provided insights into the report’s findings and their implications for enhancing the performance and governance of Specified Entities.
A lively question-and-answer session then ensued, allowing editors to seek clarifications and share suggestions on enhancing public communication around SIGA’s work. Participants commended SIGA for its openness and commitment to engaging stakeholders, pledging to use their platforms to disseminate accurate information about the Authority’s initiatives.
