first staff durbar 2026

The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) on Monday, 19th January 2026, held its first Staff Durbar for the year, bringing together Management and staff to reinforce institutional values, promote professionalism, and align employees with the Authority’s objectives agenda for 2026.

The durbar served as a strategic engagement platform for Management to brief staff on key administrative and operational priorities while advancing a renewed commitment to accountability, efficiency, and excellence. Discussions focused on expectations for the year, ongoing initiatives, and the collective responsibility of staff in achieving SIGA’s mandate.

Welcoming staff back from the Christmas break, the Acting Head of Human Resources, Mr. Frank Akekyi, wished all staff a successful year and encouraged them to make professionalism, discipline, and service to the nation the hallmarks to enable SIGA deliver on its statutory mandate.

Management outlined key measures aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, including plans to introduce a structured daily task system to streamline workflows, improve productivity, and enhance effectiveness across all divisions. It was also announced that staff ID cards would be issued to facilitate easy identification during official engagements and to further strengthen SIGA’s corporate identity and institutional credibility.

Addressing the durbar, the Director-General of SIGA, Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte, challenged staff to raise the bar in their professional conduct and output in 2026.

“As an Authority, we must embrace a higher standard of performance, one that is defined not by effort alone, but by measurable outcomes, timeliness, innovation, and integrity. Each staff member has a critical role to play in ensuring that SIGA promotes efficiency in the Specified Entities,” he stated.

Professor Kpessa-Whyte commended staff for their dedication and urged them to remain focused, collaborative, and results-oriented as the Authority advances its reform and oversight agenda.

The Staff Durbar reaffirmed SIGA’s commitment to staff development, professionalism, and high performance, setting a positive and purposeful tone for 2026 and strengthening the shared resolve to deliver effective and impactful public sector governance.
