The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, led a delegation from SIGA in a strategic engagement with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), and officials of the Ministry on Wednesday, 13 August 2026.
The engagement, which explored opportunities for collaboration towards leveraging state assets to advance the national interest, forms part of SIGA’s ongoing efforts to build strong institutional partnerships across government, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that state interests are managed efficiently, transparently, and in a manner that delivers tangible value to the Ghanaian people.
Discussions centred on identifying practical areas of synergy between SIGA’s mandate of overseeing and optimising the performance of Specified Entities and the Ministry’s role in advancing Ghana’s diplomatic and international engagements. Both parties underscored the importance of a coordinated approach to ensuring that state assets are strategically positioned to support the country’s broader economic and foreign policy objectives.
The meeting reflects a broader pattern in SIGA’s approach to its mandate, that is, effective stewardship of state interests requires close cooperation with ministries, departments, and agencies across government, rather than working in isolation. By fostering these cross-government relationships, SIGA aims to strengthen the overall governance architecture around state assets and enhance accountability at every level.
