The Director-General of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) received the Head and Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Madam Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, on a courtesy call to the Authority’s office premises on August 19, 2026, as the two institutions explored avenues for closer collaboration.
The Director-General welcomed Madam Darko-Opoku and her team, with the meeting opening on a cordial note of pleasantries and introductions before discussions got underway.
Madam Darko-Opoku used the opportunity to brief the Director-General on the progress made by the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, notably a nationwide needs assessment conducted across major public hospitals and health facilities to identify gaps and guide improvements to health infrastructure, with the broader aim of raising the standard of healthcare available to Ghanaians nationwide. She also informed the Director-General of the Fund’s upcoming National Communicable Disease Month, an awareness drive the outfit intends to lead in the fight against communicable diseases.
She went on to acknowledge the support the Fund has enjoyed from corporate Ghana, particularly from some entities under SIGA’s oversight, and made the case for SIGA to come on board as a strategic partner. She noted that SIGA’s oversight role over public enterprises positions it uniquely to streamline communication and mobilise greater support from the sector for the Fund’s work.
Responding, the SIGA Director-General commended Madam Darko-Opoku for the Fund’s initiatives, remarking that the good health of a people is a true measure of a nation’s wealth. He assured her of SIGA’s readiness to support the Fund’s mandate, and the meeting closed with both sides agreeing to pursue further discussions toward a formal collaboration.
