The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) has been honored by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) for its professionalism, efficiency, compliance, and exceptional service in facilitating trade through Ghana’s ports.
The award was presented at GPHA’s 40th Anniversary Dinner and Awards Night, held in Accra on 24 October 2026. Government officials, past and present leaders, staff and partners gathered to celebrate four decades of service to Ghana’s maritime and trade sector, and to recall the merger of the Ghana Cargo Handling Company, Takwali Nitrate and the Ghana Port Company that created the Authority.
Speakers used the occasion to look ahead. GPHA’s Director General, Major-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, called for new ideas and stronger partnerships. The Board Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, spoke on the importance of working together and committed the Board to oversight, innovation and good governance. The Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, set out six priorities for the sector: port efficiency and service excellence; digitalization and innovation; multimodal connectivity across ports, roads, railways and inland terminals; sustainability, safety and resilience; workforce development; and regional trade and integration.
GPHA then paid tribute to its past Directors General, staff with 40 years of service and the pioneering women of the Authority. The evening closed with awards to the Authority’s shipping and trade partners, among them SIGA.
The Head of SIGA’s Performance Monitoring PME Division, Mr. Eric Bonsu Agyabeng, represented the Authority and accepted the award. “We are proud of this recognition and thank GPHA for it,” he said. “For us at SIGA, this award shows the value of working closely with the state-owned bodies we support, and we will keep doing so as GPHA starts its fifth decade.”
The anniversary reflects GPHA’s drive to deepen cooperation with the trade community and its regional neighbors, as it builds on its growing role as a gateway for regional trade.
