Perseus Mining Ghana has presented a GH¢391 million (US$35 million) dividend cheque to the Government of Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the company’s contribution to the nation’s mineral wealth.

The cheque was presented to the Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minister for Finance, at the Ministry of Finance, in the presence of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) Director-General, Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte.

This payment represents a significant increase over the dividend Perseus Mining paid to the state last year, and marks the company’s second-ever dividend payment to the Government of Ghana since the commencement of its operations.

Perseus Mining is a Mining Joint Venture Company (JVC) operating under the oversight of SIGA. The significant increase in dividend payout reflects the growing profitability of Perseus Mining’s operations in Ghana. It underscores the importance of effective oversight in ensuring that the state captures its fair share of value from the country’s mineral resources.

SIGA continues to work closely with its portfolio entities, including Joint Venture Companies in the mining sector, to strengthen governance, improve performance, and ensure that Ghana’s natural resource wealth translates into tangible benefits for the state and its citizens.

The Authority commends Perseus Mining for this landmark payment and looks forward to continued growth in the value delivered to the Ghanaian state through its mining sector investments.
